My Show and Tell

Teddy and I took a little walk today, so here are some pics from my parents' house and yard. (I think this is my first Show & Tell!)

This is my dad's red wheel. We have no idea why he likes it so much, but he painted it and set it here. My mother indulges him, so it's been here for years.

Here's Teddy walking away from the wheel, just for a sense of . . . presentation.

These are just some pretty berries.

And now I'm going to eat some pizza.

I love this wheel.

Gina, is that an orchard behind that cute boy? When you say "in the sticks," I think you mean to say "beautifully rural." Is this where you grew up?

A berry photo worthy of a Martha cover.

Blackbird said it first, but I, too, *love* the wheel. Your father sounds like a kindred. I am jealous that you are out in the country in this gorgeous weather! I love red berries too. I always take pictures of the tree in our parking lot at work. A fabulous first show and tell.

There are about ten wheels like that one (in varying sizes) propped against the back shed at my grandparents.
Grandma wouldn't let Grandpa put them anywhere else.

He hadn't painted them red though. That might have changed everything.

My dad restores/rebuilds old cars for fun, so it's not weird at all that he's fond of this wheel. The strange thing is that he went to the trouble of painting it and leaning it against a tree in the back yard.

No, Peg, it's not really an orchard, just some trees. There are several apple trees in the front yeard, but there's no formal orchard. I love looking at the trees in their yard, because we planted them when my parents built the house, when I was five. It amazes me that they went from twigs stuck in the ground to actual trees. (Aside from the one I killed with the tractor when I was learning how to mow.)
