Amazon has on its homepage a list of the summer's "Break Out Books." I was curious and am always looking for something good to read.
How could I *possibly* resist this book after THIS review:
"Kim Addonizio uses words the way a dominatrix uses a whip..."
The book is Little Beauties, and you can read more here, if you can't resist. I couldn't.

Did you notice that Addonizio is a poet? I'm not much of a poetry fan, but I like the idea of a poet writing a novel. Poets, after all, should be able to wield words like whips.
And I like the cover.
I did not notice the cover at first, but I do like it. It's a nice change from all the slick photos of shoes, and junked up covers. It reminds me of something sort of Matisse-paper-cutouts or maybe Picasso-drawings. (My art background is feeble, that's the best description I can make of the very clear picture I have in my head...) And the book sounds interesting. I will more than likely check it out.
