"I want my string beans to be quarantined!" - Patrick Zevo, "Toys"

I am currently immersed in the strange, other world of Scarlett Thomas's PopCo.

I keep thinking, "Wow, I don't really *love* this, and I so do not get Alice Butler, and I don't know where it's going..." and yet I still have to keep reading.

When I finish it, I will fill you in, but for right now, I am busy reading.

Which reminds me, the other book I am reading is Maureen Corrigan's Leave Me Alone, I'm Reading.

That's all.
Update at eleven.
Or tomorrow, or something.

I'm sorry to have missed your post of yesterday - I hope things are on the improve (and you've got some more of that cake!).

I have a few "books on books" that I'm dipping into and out of lately - Anne Fadiman's Ex Libris, A Yellow Lighted Bookshop (the author eludes me at the moment), Jane Smiley's 13 Ways of Reading the Novel and The King's English (by its owner - a great book about the bookselling business).

Leave Me Alone ... looks like one to add to the wishlist.

It's the homeopathy, isn't it?

With PopCo, that sort of stopped me, too. (But then I ended up really loving the book.) I'm so glad Behind the Stove alerted me to the existance of Scarlett Tomas! Thank you.

I'll have to check out Leave Me Alone, I'm Reading. Currently, my book about books is So Many Books, So Little Time by Sara Nelson -- it's really more about reading than about books.

I haven't read the "Leave me alone, I'm reading" but I did read the "So Many Books So little Time" and loved it to bits! I could really relate to Sara Nelson, as a reader.

I loved Popco, too. Had that same reaction... couldn't stop reading, curious as to where it was going, engrossed in the interesting ideas... And I loved it. How great to find a book that isn't predictable.
