"The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal well meaning but without understanding.”

[I rarely get political on this blog, but I use the above quote deliberately, after learning of President Bush's intentions to send more troops to Iraq, exacerbating the mistakes he (now) readily admits to rather than solving one damn thing.]

Ahem.

Hey y'all, it's National Delurking Week!

Dear Blackbird is asking lurkers to comment.

I like to kid myself that I have a faithful and loving, if relatively silent, readership.
And I have no desire to have my dreams dashed.
Although I do - more often than is good for me - check my stats on Sitemeter.

But Happy National Delurking Week anyway!
I love you all, my sweet little Internetties.

Sorry, definitely a commenter and not a lurker but I had a couple of lurkers de-lurk over my way recently via email (which does not, in my view, actually qualify as a complete de-lurk, but still) and I am sure you will have many more de-lurking here now.

btw, I am trying to read my first chapter of the Scarlet Letter via Daily Lit thanks to you, thanks to Lazy Cow. My own print copy has been missing a crucial 50pp or so for decades...

Yeah, my site meter tells me that most of my visitors come to me as a result of really wierd google searches. Happy De-Lurking week!!

Thanks for that. I'm glad to know people really see assface for what he is.

I need to do the de-lurk thing on my blog.

Anyway, hi, and thanks for the book review. I shall be checking it out from my local library.

I hardly qualify as a lurker, but I'll say hello anyhow.

Hello dear, as you know, I'm always here! Had dinner with a couple of fellow bloggers last night and was wistfully thinking to myself if we'll ever get to toss back the wine and talk without stopping till midnight :-)
