Sryashta spins golden yarn inside which she weaves your fate. (If you are a good and kind person, she may just take matters into her own capable hands and improve it.)
She is the goddess of good fortune and serves as the household assistant of Mokosh, the Slavic earth goddess.
Sryashta is a variant of the Dolya/Nedolya myth.

I Read The News Today. Oh, BOY!
This is from The Daily Mail's coverage of Equus, which is getting ready to open in London.
A creepy play, well, perhaps, but I do love it. The photo -- way too literal, but what do you expect from a commercial production that's selling tickets because he's in it? Which irritates me, too, because it's a strong play no matter the 'star,' provided Alan and Strang are strong enough actors. I do think Radcliffe is going to do great things with the character.
Gina, you and I are in the same boat--I too graduated in 1989. I knew my students were young, but this makes me feel really, really old. And dirty. Really, really dirty.
Unlike many of you, I don't feel like an ancient pervert. I feel like walking up to DR and telling him to please do a few pushups if he's gonna go starkers.

YES! That's Daniel Radcliffe--Harry Potter! Who was born in 1989, just weeks after I graduated from high school.
Oh God!
(averts eyes)
I cannot look at naked Harry.
Please promise me that is NOT the cover for the last HP book.
You know, I felt icky watching him in that huge bath tub in the Goblet of Fire movie. THIS makes me feel like a dirty old woman!
it gets worse - are you familiar with the play Equus? It is downright creepy.
I may be a dirty old woman, but whoa - he looks amazing. If only I didn't know the damn play...then I could FOCUS.
Oh ugh. I checked him out before I realized who he was.
I'm a pervert! Argh.
thanks Gina. And, wow, he is only 17 years old in that picture. Even *I* am a dirty old woman looking at that picture.
Oh my God! I can't believe that! I knew he was going to be in that play, but good Lord!
He was born in EIGHTY-NINE? That makes me want to say a very bad word.
In '89 I wasn't even in COLLEGE anymore. I was a big grownup with an APARTMENT and a REAL JOB and sh*t.
Oh God. I need a drink.
"Equus, son of Neckwus, son of Fleckwus..."
"Behold, I give you Equus, my only begotten son."

Sweet Fancy Moses!

Aha!

And I got my MBA in 1989.
