"Violence is the first refuge of the incompetent." - Isaac Asimov

I very rarely get political on this blog, you all know that.

But the facts of the matter are these, in no particular order:

I am a bleeding heart liberal.

I voted Libertarian in the last city mayoral election.

I am all about social programming, and could not care less about wasting more money on defense spending.

I am a pacifist, and a bit of an isolationist.

I think our brave and stalwart soldiers should come home from Iraq. They are there for all the wrong reasons, even though I am guessing *they* are fighting for the right ones.

And this ongoing story from Veterans' Affairs makes me want to do nothing so much as punch President Bush right in his smug, stupid face.

Isolationist? I never would have guessed.

Yeah, I couldn't even read the entire article, that's how angry it makes me. Did it mention how Bush recently cut funds to the dept that does intake, as in all the vets from this conflict/war will have a harder time getting entered into the VA system?

(I rarely get political too.)(Or is that either?)

I saw this story on the broadcast this morning. Really sickening!

My BIL, a veteran himself, works for the VA and he would tell you that things have been gerfukt there since long before Bush entered the picture.

That being said, W certainly hasn't done anything to make it BETTER, and I personally have wanted to punch him in the face since the early '90s.

This story fills me with rage. How can anyone justify treating our veterans like this? And as much as the press annoys me at times, if it weren't for stories like this being broadcast or printed, nothing would be done for these vets. So, hats off to CNN and the Washington Post and other media sources that have reported on this ongoing outrage.

My husband's uncle is a WWII vet. He doesn't want to go see the new WWII memorial in Washington. He thinks, instead of building a memorial, they should've spent that money providing better medical and other services for the vets.

We'll be seeing him on Thursday.

yes, badge, but bush got us into this pointless exercise and if i see one more photo of the draft-dodging asshole posing with twenty-year-old vets with no legs, I'll vomit. Send HIS smarmy daughters over there and see if we can wipe that smirk off his face.

Even though I'm loaded up on prescription cough syrup, you are getting me all riled up. I'm feeling feisty, dammit! (I have personally wanted to punch W in the face for over a decade.)

Agreed. Every bit. And I love that quote! (Can I borrow it from ya?)

Wait.

You voted Libertarian?

As in someone from the party that explicitly states that if it ever got into power it'd abolish the Income Tax and most of the departments of the gummint?

Wow.

Who knew we'd have ANY common ground in politics?

Vote for me,
