Sryashta spins golden yarn inside which she weaves your fate. (If you are a good and kind person, she may just take matters into her own capable hands and improve it.)
She is the goddess of good fortune and serves as the household assistant of Mokosh, the Slavic earth goddess.
Sryashta is a variant of the Dolya/Nedolya myth.

"Rock and menopause do not mix." - Stevie Nicks
I can’t really believe I bought this book, but in the spirit of eternal hopefulness, I did.
Because, let’s face it, the first few were insipid but fun.
Shopaholic & Sister was an abomination, but optimism prevails.
I spied it at the grocery store while I was buying my weekly three gallons of milk, bushel of bananas, and crate of diapers.
Oh, and also coconut cake.
I expect to rip through it this evening while H has band practice.
(The book, but possibly also some cake.)
I’ll let you know if the book’s really horrible.
Or if, somehow, it's not.
And I know that *I* am already looking forward to the next few installments:
Shopaholic & Divorce Attorney
Shopaholic & Her Kid’s Rehab
Shopaholic Explores Her Sexuality
Shopaholic & Menopause
Labels:
Magic Swizzle,
menopause

I just ripped through the latest J.D. Robb, if it makes you feel any better.
I have never been able to bring myself to read a single one of these books. I think it's possible they may be my kryptonite.
Rock and menopause DO TO mix.
Mixes with gin pretty good too...
I'm with Badger. I tried the wedding one and, well, it just was...
but if it makes you happy...
The one to read is The Shopaholic Drinks Red Bull At A Race Registration And Gets Herself Preggers.
The book being, of course, a cautionary tale against the so-called "gift with purchase."

For some insane reason this series ALWAYS makes me cry. It's so manipulative and mawkish but I can't help myself. Skimmed this at the bookstore the other day and yes, the obligatory confrontation/misunderstanding had me tearing up. Looking forward to your review.
Ahhhh, you NEED one of these books every so often. They are so good on many levels:
1. can read it fast and in very distracting environments.
2. a break from all the heavy and long reads.
3. to remind you why you read those heavy and long books!
My equivalent would be those awful glossy magazines showing what the "stars" wore to the Golden Globes or the Oscars. See. At least yours is a book ;-)
My equivalent is anything by Meg Cabot (well, almost anything) and the Sisterchicks series. I read two on the bus ride to Thursday (it was a four hour bus ride--you do the math).
